Rachel, if you cannot find Tyvek or comparable material, then if you do use plastic you MUST keep the ends opened for airflow. Especially with the heat and humidity in Taiwan, mold and insects will be a problem over time. Either keep those ends open, or punch holes throughout the wrapping. Keep the rug elevated to avoid any flood problems that might get your storage area wet. And be sure the rugs are washed and an insect repellant used so that you do not have any rug-eating bugs having a feast on your carpets.

I just got back from several weeks in Bali Indonesia, and stopped in Taipei Taiwan on the way, very pretty country. Hope that information helps - sorry for the delay! - Lisa

Hi Lisa,

I'm located in Taiwan and I cannot find a Tyvek paper supplier. Is there other wrapping/storaging material that I can use instead?

And if I use a non-breathable material like pvc sheet to wrap my rug, would you suggest to leave a opening for moisture to come out?
