The in-home machines are too rough and too high in temperature and agitation and alkalinity for wool rugs, especially Persian ones. It can create dye migration, buckling, loss of fibers, etc. Investment rugs need to be handled by rug specialists - if you need one in your area, let me know and I will email you a company to use.
